Shuttling from At the Drive in at Irving Plaza
just in time to get to Wetlands to catch
International Noise Conspiracy during
a rainy CMJ week. Waiting on line in the snow
for Wynston Marsalis only to get turned away
when the Village Vanguard hit capacity.
Too many straight edge kids crowding
the bar at Cherry Tavern; settled for a poem
on a napkin upstairs at Sin Sin. A freestyle cypher
on every corner. Black 47 in midtown. Some
of us still have not forgiven ourselves for missing
Rage at Roseland. It was another century,
and we were spoiled.
